Nasal Tipplasty Q&A
Q. Is there any drooping after nasal tipplasty?
A. Immediately after the surgery, due to local anesthesia and swelling, you may feel that the nasal tip appears more droopy than before. However, this is a natural phenomenon during the recovery process. As the swelling subsides and your nose heals, the nasal tip will settle into its proper position, and any slight drooping you notice will likely improve. It's important to remember that the full results of the surgery can take up to 6 months to be fully apparent. So, any minor changes in the appearance of the nasal tip before that time should not be a cause for concern.
Q. Does nasal tipplasty involve the use of implants?
A. In the past, nasal tip rhinoplasty often used L-shaped silicone implants to raise both the nasal bridge and the nasal tip simultaneously. However, this method had some drawbacks, such as thinning of the nasal skin over time, leading to visible implants or changes in color. To address these issues and achieve more natural and lasting results, the trend has shifted towards using autologous cartilage, such as ear cartilage, septal cartilage, or rib cartilage, for nasal tip rhinoplasty. Instar Plastic Surgery also follows this approach and uses autologous cartilage for nasal tip rhinoplasty.
Q. Can nasal tipplasty cause a collapse?
A. Nasal tipplasty typically uses autologous cartilage rather than artificial implants, significantly reducing the risk of complications like nasal collapse or structural problems.
